The Solar Bears begin a five-game road trip tonight in Elmira, coming off a 6-2 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday. Six different players scoring in Orlando's last game, with Bryce Lampman, Sean Lorenz, and Ryan Reaves all picking up their first Solar Bears goals. Elmira last played on Saturday, December 8, suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Reading Royals. Orlando and the Jackals have met up one time previously, with Orlando collecting a 5-3 win at the Amway Center on November 10.

F Ryan Ginand was placed on the 21-day IR retroactive to Sunday, December 9... D Corbin Baldwin was placed on the 21-day IR yesterday... RW Chris Lawrence remains on the 21-day IR....G Mike Brodeur remains on the 21-day IR but has resumed skating drills... D Josh Caron, D Kyle Medvec, and F Rob Mignardi are currently recalled to the Houston Aeros... F Olivier Fortier is currently recalled to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

F Jean Bourbeau is on a four-game goal streak, striking for six goals, dating back to December 1... The Jackals are 1-3-0-1 in their last five games... Eight of Elmira's last 10 games have been played at home... G Marc Cheverie is tied for first in the ECHL with two shutouts and tied for third with a .920 save percentage... Elmira is third on the power play at 23.9 percent (21-for-88) and 10th on the penalty kill at 83.5 percent (14-for-85).
Solar Bears add local product Smyth, Zollars:
The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have agreed to terms with F Matt Smyth and D Gentry Zollars.
Smyth (5'11", 188 lbs.) is a native of Orlando, FL, and has played 24 games with the Williamsport Outlaws in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) this year. The 23-year old forward has 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points with Williamsport this year.
Zollars (5'11", 195 lbs) has skated in 18 games with the Danbury Whalers, scoring four goals and adding 14 assists for 18 points. He dressed for 13 ECHL games with the Trenton Titans last season, recording two assists and 10 penalty minutes (PIM).
The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and AHL's Houston Aeros, are in their Out of Hibernation season and play all of their regular season home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
