Tonight's Matchup: The San Francisco Bulls kick off their weekend road trip tonight, beginning with the Ontario Reign. This is the sixth of ten meetings between the two clubs, with the Bulls compiling a 1-3-0-1 record in the season series. After struggling early against Ontario, in their last matchup, the Bulls scored their first victory of the season against the formidable opponent with a decisive 5-1 victory at the Cow Palace behind a five-point night from Marek Viedensky.
Tonight marks the second game in a stretch of four games in five days for the Bulls, who last night defeated the Stockton Thunder, 4-3, in an exciting overtime win. Peter Sivak netted the game winner at 1:13 of overtime. Tomorrow they visit Bakersfield, and then head to HP Pavilion Monday, the home of their NHL affiliate San Jose Sharks, to take on the Stockton Thunder.
The Reign are headlined by top scorers C.J. Stretch (14 goals, 14 assists) and Dan DaSilva (9 goals, 18 assists), as well as former San Jose Shark wing Devin Setoguchi. Stretch is in the midst of an 11 game point streak, good for the third longest in the ECHL this season and the longest active streak. He has amassed eight goals and ten assists in that span. Another hot hand, Colton Yellow Horn, has a seven game point streak, with six goals and four assists.
The Bulls will counter with rookie standouts Dean Ouellet and Sacha Guimond, and captain Justin Bowers. Ouellet, the league leader in rookie scoring with 14 goals and 11 assists, is riding a five game point streak. Guimond is leading the league in rookie scoring for defenseman, and is second overall among defensemen. Bowers is currently seventh in the league in assists with 19.
