
Road Warriors Win in Shootouts against Stingrays

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors were able to recuperate from a Stingrays comeback in the third period winning 5-4 in the shootout.
Greenville started off with a bang in the first period scoring two goals from Steven Delisle and Sean Berkstresser. Delisle scored his second of the year with a slap shot goal from the top of the cirlce. Francis Verreault brought the puck into the zone then fed it to Kenndal McArdle who found Delisle open at the point. Berkstresser's goal came off a deflection from Lee Baldwin's shot. Jordie Johnston was credited with the other assist.
Matthew Pistilli opened the scoring in the second period with his fifth goal of the season. Langkow passed the puck to Pistilli who entered the zone with a quick wrist shot that beat Jason Missiaen glove high. Verreault and Andrew Yogan would then score 25 second apart to bring the Road Warriors to a 4-1 lead.
South Carolina dominated the third and scored 4:26 into the period. Chris Langkow began the scoring with his seventh of the year. Two goals were scored by Tyler Johnson in a matter of 31 seconds to tie the game at four and force overtime.
The two teams continued the tie into shootouts which latest seven rounds. Johnston scored in the final round with Missiaen denying Daniel Koger to seal the victory. Missiaen won his first ECHL game this season stopping 29 of 33 shots including five in shootouts. Jeff Jakaitis was the losing goalie with 29 saves on 33 shots but only four saves in shootouts.
The weekend wraps-up on Sunday afternoon with Gwinnett returning to play the Road Warriors for the fourth time in ten days. Puckdrop is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday is Family Fun Day.
