The Blades welcome the Portland Winterhawks for their only meeting of the season. It's the 4th game in a 5-game home stand for the Blades. As for the Winterhawks, they are making their final stop on their biennial East Division road trip. Both teams sit 2nd in their respective divisions and conferences, and 3rd (SAS) and 4th (POR) in the overall league standings. Ryan Hughes and Josh Paterson will face their former teams for the first time after being swapped in a trade deadline deal on Thursday.

Gary Haden (16), Kristian Roykas-Marthinsen (11), and Ryan Hughes (18), scored in a 4-3 OT loss to Calgary last night at SaskTel Centre. Nolan Maier made 35 saves in the loss. Meanwhile, the Hawks suffered their first regulation loss in their last 10 games and the first loss on their road trip; 4-2 last night in Prince Albert to the league leading Raiders.
