Tonight's game and all Saskatoon Blades games will be played on Treaty 6 land.

Tonight...

The Blades welcome the Portland Winterhawks for their only meeting of the season. It's the 4th game in a 5-game home stand for the Blades. As for the Winterhawks, they are making their final stop on their biennial East Division road trip. Both teams sit 2nd in their respective divisions and conferences, and 3rd (SAS) and 4th (POR) in the overall league standings. Ryan Hughes and Josh Paterson will face their former teams for the first time after being swapped in a trade deadline deal on Thursday.

The last game...

Gary Haden (16), Kristian Roykas-Marthinsen (11), and Ryan Hughes (18), scored in a 4-3 OT loss to Calgary last night at SaskTel Centre. Nolan Maier made 35 saves in the loss. Meanwhile, the Hawks suffered their first regulation loss in their last 10 games and the first loss on their road trip; 4-2 last night in Prince Albert to the league leading Raiders.

Saskatoon has won the last 3 meetings with the Winterhawks including last year's 4-0, 48 save shutout performance by Nolan Maier. Both teams enter with similar records and just 3 points apart in the overall WHL standings. Portland is the best special teams club in the WHL with a combined success rate of 111.8% compared to the Blades' 99.6%. The Blades only have 2 regulation losses in their last 14 games... Portland has 2 regulation losses in their last 16 outings.

Ryan Hughes didn't skip a beat in his debut last night with the Blades scoring 1G-1A, he now has 14pts in 8 games since the holiday break. Eric Florchuk (1G-3A) has points in his last 3 games. Gary Haden has points in 8 of his last 9 games (3G-7A). Kirby Dach returned the to the lineup after missing four games due to injury and extended his point streak to 5 points in 3 games with an assist last night.
