ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION... Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it two straight wins as they host the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) in the middle game of a three-game series at Jerry Uht Park. Last night, the SeaWolves tied a season-high, belting out six home runs in an 11-8 win over the Aeros. It was Erie's third win against the Eastern League's top club. Akron's 32-14 record is the best in the league while the SeaWolves at 27-19, own the second-best mark in the EL. With last night's win, Erie is now five games behind first place Akron and a game ahead of third place Reading in the EL South. The SeaWolves also own the best home winning percentage in the EL at .708. Erie is 5-5 in its last 10 games while the Aeros are 4-6 in their last 10...Righty Jonah Nickerson rejoins the Erie starting rotation following an injury to Duane Below. Tonight will be Nickerson's 10th appearance and ninth start of the season. His last appearance was in relief against Akron on May 25. In the game, he tossed 2.2 scoreless innings allowing no hits with two walks and a strikeout. Nickerson took a loss in his last start against Harrisburg on May 20...Righty Hector Rondon takes the mound for the Aeros. Rondon makes his 10th appearance and eighth start of the season. He beat the SeaWolves in his last start on May 25 going six innings, allowing a run on three hits with four strikeouts and a season-high four walks. Rondon is fifth in the league with a 2.08 ERA...In the last 10 games, the SeaWolves are hitting .294 with 16 long balls...Alex Avila is batting .400 with two home runs and eight RBI in his last eight games...The 11 runs given up by Akron last night was the most they have given up this season. TODAY'S NOTABLES - - Erie leads the season series over Akron 3-2. The SeaWolves and Aeros meet 27 times in 2009. It is the most times Erie will face an opponent in 2009. - Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.75 team ERA. Akron is the top pitching staff in the league with a 3.14 team ERA. - Erie is tied with New Britain as the top hitting club in the league with a .272 team batting average. Akron is 11th in the league with a .246 team batting average. - The SeaWolves lead the league with 58 home runs and are second with 238 runs scored. Erie has hit 18 more home runs that the next closest team (Harrisburg with 40). - Scott Sizemore is tied for third in the league with 55 hits and third with 31 runs scored. He is tied for third in the league, along with teammate Brennan Boesch with nine home runs. Boesch leads the league with 26 extra-base hits while Sizemore is third with 24. - Boesch's last eight hits have been extra-base hits (5 2B, 2 HR, 1 3B) - Ryan Strieby leads the league with 12 home runs and is tied for the league lead with 35 runs scored while he is tied for fourth with 34 RBI. - The ‘Wolves have turned 52 double plays which is third in the EL. - Erie pitchers have walked the third-fewest batters in the EL (143). Akron has walked just 121 on the season, the fewest in the EL.
