LAST NIGHT: The Tribe scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in an 8-3 win over the Bats on Tuesday night, sealing a two-game sweep for Indy and second straight series win. The Indians sent nine batters to the plate against Tejay Antone in the opening frame, which was sparked by a Cole Tucker hustle double to begin the inning. Darnell Sweeney quickly made it 1-0 with a single into right and Kevin Kramer followed with a single of his own. A fielding error at third allowed Indy to double its lead, and after Logan Hill was beaned to reload the bases, Trayvon Robinson worked a walk to push the advantage to 3-0. Christian Kelley added a sac fly and JB Shuck slashed a run-scoring single to cap the frame. Eduardo Vera (W, 4-5) tossed 7.0 innings of two-run ball with the run support, and Dovydas Neverauskas (S, 6) recorded the final four outs for the save.

FIVE SPOT: Indy's five-run first last night didn't quite result in the Tribe batting around (10 batters to the plate in a single inning). The Tribe have yet to bat around this season after doing so 13 times in 2018. The five-run frame was Indy's fourth of the season and first since the fifth inning on May 10 at Lehigh Valley.

VERA IMPRESSIVE: Eduardo Vera followed a stellar Mitch Keller outing on Monday (7.1ip, 1r) with one of his own last night (7.0ip, 4h, 2r, 2er, 1bb, 5k). At one point in the game, the 24-year-old recorded five outs in a seven-pitch span. The quality start was his fifth of the year and the Tribe improved to 7-8 when he starts, snapping a three-game slide when Vera's on the bump. The Merida, Mexico native ranks among IL leaders in innings pitched (1st, 84.1), starts (T-1st, 15) and WHIP (10th, 1.39).

NEVER SAY NEVER: Dovydas Neverauskas slammed the door on Louisville's comeback hopes last night for his sixth save. The Lithuanian now has 27 career saves with the Tribe since the 2016 campaign; he had four in 2016, 13 in 2017 and four again in 2018 before amassing six so far in 2019. Neverauskas has also dominated at The Vic this season, posting a 0.73 ERA (1er/12.1ip) with 18 strikeouts in 10 appearances.

@COTUCK: Cole Tucker tied a career high with four hits in last night's contest, including a pair of doubles. He also made a spinning throw on a grounder up the middle in shallow center to rob Bats pitcher Tejay Antone of a base hit in the fifth inning. The 22-year-old phenom now has four four-hit games in his career and his first since May 12, 2017 with High-A Bradenton vs. Palm Beach. Tucker has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games with five multi-hit performances and is batting .364 (16-for-44) with three homers, four doubles, six RBI and seven runs scored during the stretch.

BIG WINNER: Indy's 8-3 win last night was its largest margin of victory since an 8-3 win on May 27 at Columbus. The Tribe have seven wins by five-plus runs this season.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE: The Indians are one of two teams in the IL with a winning record and a negative run differential. Indy is -2 in run differential but 41-34 overall. Buffalo is -17 in run differential and 39-36 overall. The Tribe are 25-16 in games decided by two or less but just 16-18 when the final margin is by three or more runs.

WE'RE NOT LYON(S): LHP Tyler Lyons recorded his fifth straight scoreless outing with four outs in relief of Mitch Keller on Monday night, lowering his season ERA to 1.93 (6er/28.0ip). The 31-year-old southpaw has yet to allow a run in 12.0 innings pitched at home.

MUST BE MONTANA: RHP Montana DuRapau extended his scoreless streak to six games (6.2ip) by recording the final out in Monday night's triumph. The 27-year-old has surrendered a run in just three of his 20 appearances with Indy this year and owns a remarkable 1.13 ERA (3er/24.0ip). IL opponents are batting just .095 (7-for-74) with 26 strikeouts against him, and he's held right-handed batters to an .045 average (2-for-44).

HOME RUN STREAK: Indy's pitching staff has allowed at least one home run in 10 consecutive games dating back to Game 1 of a doubleheader against Pawtucket on June 16. It's the longest home run streak for opponents against Indy since the start of the 2012 season (Indy's media guides do not go back any further on this statistic). Earlier this season, the Tribe homered in 12 consecutive games (April 23-May 4), the longest stretch since 2012 as well.

CLOSE CALLS: Indianapolis is 15-9 in one-run games this year, tied with Durham (15-5) and Charlotte (15-9) for the most one-run victories in the IL. The Tribe went 14-24 in one-run ballgames last year. Eighteen of Indy's 24 games this month have been decided by three runs or less (75.0 percent). On the season, Indy has played 54 of its 75 games (72.0 percent) within three runs after playing only 60 percent (84-of-140) in 2018.
