One Last Ride

Tonight marks the final of 12 meetings between Portland and Spokane this year, six of which have come in the month of February alone. The Hawks have picked up nine wins in that span, including victories in four of the five consecutive matchups earlier this month.

This series has been kind to the Winterhawks' individual stats as well. Cross Hanas and Tyson Kozak have been prolific during the season series with 17 points apiece in 11 games. Five Portland skaters have also outpaced the leading Spokane goalscorers, and Taylor Gauthier remains perfect against the Chiefs through five starts.

As the regular-season slate against Spokane wraps up tonight, look for both teams to come out firing in search of "final win" bragging rights.

Postgame Skate

Join us on the VMC ice after the game to explore the world of ice skating, or show off your skills! The skate will start following the conclusion of tonight's contest (approximately 8 p.m.) and last until 9:30 p.m.

The community skate is free to attend, and skate rental is available for $20. Fans who wish to bring their own skates may bring them to the game, but skate guards must be on the blades at all times. Fans who are not attending the game may enter the VMC afterward via Gate 10.

Return to Form

No way around it - last night's loss to Seattle was a stinker. So it's a safe bet everyone in the Winterhawks' locker room is relishing the chance to get right back on the ice tonight - no time to dwell on a tough game with another tilt ahead.

"Well we know how important points are down the stretch and every game there's a chance to try to earn a playoff spot, so we're fighting for playoff position and we've got to be able to rebound off a tough game. I would love to be able to play Seattle tomorrow night too because those types of games help us prepare for the playoffs. Our team needs competitive, hard-fought games," said Head Coach Mike Johnston after the game.

The Winterhawks started well on Saturday, scoring first for the early lead, but were overwhelmed in the middle frame. Look for Johnston and Co. to have the team well-prepped for a 60-minute effort to wrap up the weekend.
