Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially punched their ticket to the Western Hockey League Playoffs for the 18th time in their franchise history. With a 3-1 victory over the Victoria Royals, the Silvertips became the first team in the WHL to earn a playoff berth in the 2021-22 season.

Reggie Newman opened the scoring with a powerplay goal for the Royals, redirecting a Gannon Laroque shot in front of the Silvertips' net. The Tips would answer back with a powerplay goal of their own late in the first, as Hunter Campbell tipped an Olen Zellweger shot for his 16th tally of the year.

Caden Zaplitny would give the Silvertips the lead at 11:18 in the second period, potting a loose puck in front of the Victoria net for his second career WHL goal.

Dylan Anderson netted the put-away goal late in the third period, his second tally of the year, to give the Silvertips a 3-1 win. The win extends Everett's point streak to 12 games- a 10-0-0-2 run.

By clinching their spot in the postseason, the Silvertips have continued their run of never having missed the WHL Playoffs since their inception in 2003.

"It's a great feeling [in the locker room] right now," said Zaplitny after the game. "But we know this is where the work starts. We've got to keep our head in the game and stay focused."

The Silvertips now turn their attention back to the Kamloops Blazers with an upcoming matchup on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.
