Zach Benson's 17th goal of the season in the first period and Jack Finley's 15th in the second frame gave the ICE a 2-0 lead.

Benson has now scored five goals in the last four consecutive games.

Ben King scored twice for Red Deer including the game winning goal with 8:53 remaining. Dallon Melin had other Rebels goal to beat ICE netminder Gage Alexander who finished the night making 22 of 25 saves.

King leads the WHL with 37 goals in 49 games. Arshdeep Bains had two assists to give him a WHL high 71 points, also in 49 games.

Chase Coward stopped 22 of 24 for Red Deer.

The Rebels victory moves them to within two points of the ICE for second place in the Eastern Conference standings, however Winnipeg has seven games in hand.

The ICE return to action Monday afternoon at 3:00 Central time in Edmonton (2:30 pregame show on CFRW 1290).
