HEAD TO HEAD - This is the fourth of 15 meetings between the Thunder and the Oilers. Wichita is 1-0-1-1 this season vs. Tulsa. All-time, Wichita is 130-103-20 and 57-58-10 on the road against the Oilers.
GROWING OLD - Tonight' match-up features two of the oldest minor league franchises in professional sports. Wichita and Tulsa joined the former CHL in 1992-93, tying them in sixth all-time with the Mississippi RiverKings of the SPHL and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, which have all been around for 23 seasons. Wichita and Tulsa will meet for the 254th time this evening in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series, with Tulsa up 2-1-0-0 in three previous meetings.
FORMER FACES - Two former Thunder players are having good starts so far through 10 games for the Oilers. Jon Booras is tied for second in the ECHL with 12 assists and leads the team with 15 points. Nathan Lutz has eight points so far through 10 contests for the Oilers.
OFFENSIVE COMPARISON - Tulsa has the highest scoring offense in the ECHL, averaging 4.2 goals per game, but is last in the league in goals against per game (4.3) Wichita is averaging 2.6 per game while giving up 3.3 goals per game. The Thunder are averaging 29.2 shots per game and are second in the ECHL for fewest shots allowed per contest at 25.5 per game. Tulsa is averaging 29 shots per game and allowing 31.1 shots per contest.
STREAKING - Stephen Schultz took over the team-lead in points and has scored in four-straight. He had three multi-assist games this past week including two on Saturday and Sunday over the weekend. The Westbury, New York native finished with seven points (1g, 6a) during the team's four games. Tulsa's T. J. Caig is on a five-game point streak since November 4th, scoring seven points over that span (3g, 4a).
MILLER TIME - Kenton Miller has been a thorn in the side of his old team. On Sunday night, he tallied a power play goal and had an assist. It was the third power play marker he has scored against Missouri this season. In three meetings against the Mavericks, Miller has five points (3g, 2a) and has fired 15 shots on net. All four of the goals he has scored this season have come on the power play.
75 - RG Flath continues to move up in the record books in a Thunder uniform. He had two goals last week and now has 75 in a Thunder uniform, putting him in ninth place all-time.
