"Call-ups are always a double-edged sword," Gladiators President Steve Chapman said. "On the one-hand, that's one of our purposes as an organization - to develop talent, to give guys a chance to reach the highest level of professional hockey that they can. It's rewarding to see guys get chances to prove themselves at the next level and it's especially rewarding when they do. On the other hand, when it comes in one massive wave like this, it's a challenge.

"It's not easy to lose six players to the AHL over a short period of time. And throw in some extended injuries to six key guys as well. But, it's the reality and it's what we have to deal with at the moment. We have to have enough character and commitment to see it through. Hot streaks and rough patches are going to happen at this level of hockey if you are an organization that truly develops players."

The only time the Gladiators have had more call-ups in such a short amount of time was in the 2007-08 season when the team had eight players assigned to the AHL:

* Dan Turple (Chicago) - 10/19

* Mike Vigilante (Manitoba) - 10/27

* Chad Denny (Chicago) - 10/31

* Scott Lehman (Chicago) - 11/5

* Jeff Campbell (Norfolk) - 11/7

* Colton Fretter (Chicago) - 11/12

* Chad Painchaud (Chicago) - 11/12

* Jon Awe (Houston) - 11/17

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league, and are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth - where parking is always free. As Atlanta's "One and Only" professional hockey team, the Gladiators have established an extraordinary winning tradition and unrivaled commitment to excellence, maintaining a distinctive reputation for affordable and family-friendly sports entertainment. The Gladiators are consistently ranked as one of the top "Things To Do" in the Atlanta area and across the North Georgia region.
