Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - Curve infielder Dan Gamache has been selected to participate in the 2015 Electricity Maine Home Run Derby, the Eastern League of Professional Baseball announced on Monday. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 15 at 5:15 p.m. at Hadlock Field as part of the Sullivan Tire All-Star Classic Festivities.
Gamache is second on the Curve with five home runs while compiling a .320 batting average and 30 RBI heading into the All-Star Break.
The Home Run Derby will use a team format with the Eastern and Western Divisions squaring off in a three-round contest. In the first round, each player will get ten outs, with anything aside from a home run recording an out. The top two hitters from each team will advance to the second round, with the top player from each team in that round moving to the finals.
Gamache joins Anthony Gallas (Akron), Ricky Oropesa (Richmond), Rossmel Perez (Bowie) and Dean Green (Erie) as participants for the Western Division.
The Eastern Division will be represented by Brock Stassi (Reading), Josh Rodriguez (Binghamton), Gary Sanchez (Trenton), K.C. Hobson (New Hampshire) and Jantzen Witte (Portland).
The gates at Hadlock Field will open at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Festivities begin with autograph sessions with the All-Stars, presented by the Asylum Sports Bar & Grill, followed by the Electricity Maine Home Run Derby at 5:1 p.m. The All-Star Game begins at 7 p.m. and a fireworks show presented by Coca-Cola will follow the game.
Gamache will be joined in the All-Star Game by Josh Bell, Adam Frazier, Max Moroff and Jason Creasy as participants representing the Curve.
The All-Star Classic will be televised regionally throughout New England on NESN with Tom Caron and Mike Antonellis on the call, via the web on MiLB.tv and on radio via the TuneIn Radio App.
Limited tickets for the Sullivan Tire All-Star Classic are available and can be purchased by calling the host Portland Sea Dogs at 800.936.3647 or online at seadogs.com.
