Sanchez to Participate in Eastern League Home Run Derby

The Thunder, in conjunction with the Eastern League, are pleased to announce that catcher Gary Sanchez will participate in the Electricity Maine Home Run Derby as part of All-Star Week at Hadlock Field in Portland, ME on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.

Sanchez ranks second in the Eastern League with 12 home runs this season and hit 13 with the Thunder in 110 games last season.

Sanchez will compete for the Eastern Division team and will be joined by KC Hobson (New Hampshire), Brock Stassi (Reading), Josh Rodriguez (Binghamton), Jantzen Witte (Portland).

The Western Division will be represented by Anthony Gallas (Akron), Ricky Oropesa (Richmond), Rossmel Perez (Bowie), Dean Green (Erie) and Dan Gamache (Altoona).

Sanchez is one of six players who were selected to the Eastern League All-Star game joining RHP Nick Goody (will not participate, promotion), 3B Eric Jagielo (will not participate, injury), OF Jake Cave, RHP Eric Ruth and RHP Brady Lail.
