Galen Head Jr. Scholarship To Be Presented Friday

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they will be presenting the annual Galen Head Jr. Memorial Scholarship prior to Friday night's home game, when the Chiefs host the Trenton Titans at 7:00 p.m.

The scholarship is in honor of Galen Head Jr., who was a standout out hockey player at Bishop McCort High School, the first trainer of the Chiefs, and son of Johnstown Jets legend Galen Head. Head, was tragically killed in a car accident during the summer of 1996 while working for the IHL's Fort Wayne Komets.

This season's scholarship winners are Ron Stenger of Bishop McCort High School and Brad Strack of Westmont Hilltop High School. Stenger was a member of Bishop McCort's state runner-up hockey team and participated in the last two PIHL all-star games. Off the ice he is an honor student and a member of SADD, the Key Club, The McCort Mirror and a volunteer hockey and little league coach. Strack as a member of Westmont's varsity team for four seasons a 2005 PIHL all-star and alternate captain during his senior season. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American Students, an Eagle Scout, student council, the ski club and Foreign Language Club. He is also in the top 10% of his graduating class.

The final home game of the season is also the next designated sellout night, sponsored by "Your Neighborhood Ford Store," is this Saturday, April 9th against Atlantic City. It will also be Fan Appreciation Day, as hundreds of prizes will be given away at random to fans throughout the game.

At the game, the Chiefs along with State Representative Ed Wojarnoski will honor the Bishop McCort High School hockey team, the Johnstown High School boys basketball team, the Westmont Hilltop girls basketball team, and the Conemaugh Valley JV hockey team.
