Alaska Aces News Release
LAS VEGAS â The Alaska Aces have announced their scheduled dates for potentially the first two rounds of the 2005 Kelly Cup playoffs.
Alaska will meet either Bakersfield or Fresno in the first round, with the first two games of the series against either club scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday night, April 12 and 13, at Sullivan Arena. All home playoff games will start at 7:15 p.m. The Condors lead the Falcons by two points with two games left to play for both teams, but if the teams finish tied, Fresno would own the tiebreaker, meaning that if the Falcons win twice against Long Beach this weekend and Bakersfield loses once in regulation against Idaho, Fresno would advance to play Alaska.
If the Aces face the Falcons, Game 3 of their first round series also would be played at Sullivan Arena, while if the Condors advance, Alaska would play in Bakersfield next Thursday for Game 3 and next Saturday for a potential Game 4. If a Game 5 became necessary, the Condors would travel to Anchorage for the decisive contest Monday, April 18, at 7:15 p.m. Long Beach and Idaho meet in the other West Division semi-final, with home ice yet to be determined.
If Alaska reaches the second round, the West Division Finals would be played under a 2-3 format, with games at Sullivan Arena Monday, April 25, Thursday, April 28 (if necessary), and Friday, April 29 (if necessary). Below is a list of the two possible scenarios for the first round.
If Alaska meets Bakersfield:
Game 1 Bakersfield at Alaska Tues., April 12 7:15 p.m.
Game 2 Bakersfield at Alaska Wed., April 13 7:15 p.m.
Game 3 Alaska at Bakersfield Thu., April 14 6:00 p.m. AST
Game 4 Alaska at Bakersfield Sat., April 16 6:00 p.m. AST (if nec.)
Game 5 Bakersfield at Alaska Mon., April 18 7:15 p.m. (if nec.)
If Alaska meets Fresno:
Game 1 Fresno at Alaska Tues., April 12 7:15 p.m.
Game 2 Fresno at Alaska Wed., April 13 7:15 p.m.
Game 3 Fresno at Alaska Fri., April 15 7:15 p.m.
Game 4 Alaska at Fresno Sun., April 17 4:00 p.m. AST (if nec.)
Game 5 Alaska at Fresno Tue., April 19 6:00 p.m. AST (if nec.)
The Aces (44-18-8) look up to lock up the National Conference crown and home ice advantage in the Kelly Cup semi-finals with a win over Las Vegas Friday night at 6:00 p.m. AST before finishing up the regular season with a rematch against the Wranglers Saturday at 6:00 p.m. AST. Wins in both games would give Alaska 100 points for the season. All Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off. The weekend games against Las Vegas, as well as all home playoff contests, also will be made available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
