Alaska Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS – The Alaska Aces have signed forward John Ronan to an ECHL contract for the remainder of the 2004-05 season.

A 5-10, 200-pound product of NCAA Division I powerhouse Maine, Ronan scored 11 goals and assisted on nine others in 37 games as a senior for the Black Bears, who went 20-13-7 this season and advanced to the NCAA tournament, where they were eliminated by eventual Frozen Four participant Minnesota.

Ronan's 20 points were just seven off the team lead, as Maine featured a balanced lineup that featured eight players who scored between 20-27 points. The 24-year-old Ronan also scored six goals and eight assists as a junior in 2004, helping a 33-8-3 Maine club capture the Hockey East Championship and advance to the NCAA Final before losing to national champion Denver.

Ronan, who will wear #16 for the Aces, will join Alaska (44-18-8) for its practice tomorrow, then figures to be in the lineup when the Aces attempt to clinch the National Conference crown with a win over Las Vegas Friday night at 6:00 p.m. AST. The two teams meet again at Orleans Arena Saturday in the regular season finale for both clubs, with Alaska set to begin its quest for the 2005 Kelly Cup in a first-round playoff game at Sullivan Arena next Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. against either Bakersfield or Fresno.

All Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off. Friday and Saturday's games against the Wranglers, as well as all home playoff contests, also will be made available on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
