Fukufuji Makes 29 Saves For Reading To Earn Victory

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals defeated the Johnstown Chiefs by a score of 3-1 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening.

Reading's Jason Becker opened the scoring with his ninth goal of the season, taking a pass from Sheldon Wing in the low slot and firing a low wrist shot past Chiefs goaltender Morgan Cey at the 8:03 mark of the first period.

The Royals padded their lead with a goal from Taylor Christie at 1:45 of the second period, when he pinched down the left wing and put a wrist shot past Cey on the far side.

The Chiefs would claw to within one when Andrew Martens backhanded a loose puck past Royals netminder Yutaka Fukufuji at the 15:00 mark of the third period.

Chris Bala would add an empty-net goal for Reading at 19:28 of the third to insure the Royals lead. Morgan Cey made 20 saves on 22 shots, taking the loss, and the Chiefs were 0-for-4 on the power-play.

The Chiefs return home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. against the Trenton Titans.
