Adirondack Frostbite News Release
LAST WEEK:
Adirondack went 3-0-0 on its abbreviated road trip through Virginia, winning a pair of games in Roanoke, and staging a dramatic comeback to win on Sunday in Richmond. The Frostbite are 9-2-0 for 18 points and are in first place in the Eastern Division, seven points ahead of Roanoke.
Wednesday, November 9 @ Richmond POSTPONED
The first game of the Frostbite's four-game road trip was postponed due to bad ice conditions at the Richmond Coliseum. No make-up date has been announced as of yet.
Friday, November 11 @ Roanoke FROSTBITE 4 Vipers 2
Lyon Porter had a four-point night, and newcomer Mark Hurtubise posted three points himself, as the Frostbite downed Roanoke 4-2. Porter gave the Frostbite a 1-0 lead 7:19 into the first period with his fifth goal of the season. Pierre-Luc Leblond doubled the Adirondack lead with his first professional goal at 14:25. Roanoke tied the game, scoring a pair of goals in the second period, but the Frostbite went ahead for good on Hurtubise's first pro goal at 12:24 of the third. Porter set the final with his second goal of the night, an empty-netter, with five seconds left.
Saturday, November 12 @ Roanoke FROSTBITE 3 Vipers 2 (SO)
Blue Bennefield started the scoring early, giving the Frostbite a 1-0 lead just 1:10 into the game. The lead did not last long though, as Roanoke's Josh Tataryn tied the game with a power-play goal at 3:05. The Vipers took the lead late in the second period on a L.P. Martin power-play goal. The Frostbite tied the game 1:17 into third as Mark Hurtubise notched a power-play tally of his own. The game remained tied through the rest of regulation, setting the stage for the shootout. In the shootout, the Frostbite got scored from Hurtubise and Mike Berry, while Derek Gustafson turned aside four of five Roanoke offerings to record his second consecutive win.
Sunday, November 13 @ Richmond FROSTBITE 4 RiverDogs 3 (SO)
Adirondack completed its three-game weekend sweep with a dramatic comeback against Richmond. The RiverDogs took a 3-1 lead early in the third period on a David Brosseau score. Mike Berry started the Frostbite rally at 18:09, intercepting a Richmond clearing attempt and rifling a shot past RiverDogs' goaltender Doug Groenstege. The Frostbite tied the game just 38 seconds later, as Bob Rapoza beat Groenstete for his first goal of the season.
