Week 4 Recap

The Rockford IceHogs picked up two more wins during Week 4 and set a club-record by winning their 7th straight game at the Rockford MetroCentre. The club-record 9-game winning streak did come to an end, however, when the Hogs dropped a 3-1 contest to the Fort Wayne Komets Saturday. A busy Week 5 schedule awaits the IceHogs with four games in five nights, including a home-and-home series with the Komets.

Transactions

Zabkowicz was released on Saturday, November 12.

Hessler was activated from League Suspension on Saturday, November 12.

Mizzi was returned to Rockford from Milwaukee on Saturday, November 12.

Defenseman Nathan Lutz was returned to Rockford from Milwaukee on Friday, November 11.

Defenseman Tom Zabkowicz was signed to a contract on Friday, November 11.

Winger Robin Big Snake was placed on three-game League Suspension on Tuesday, November 8.

Defenseman Corey Hessler was placed on one-game League Suspension on Tuesday, November 8.

Center Preston Mizzi was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Monday, November 7.

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs are currently riding a club-record 7-game home winning streak.

Rockford is the first UHL team to reach 10 wins.

IceHogs winger Jason Notermann has a goal in each of his last three games and a point in five straight overall (3g-2a-5pts).

The IceHogs power play has struggled during their last four games going 3-for-40 (7.5%) on the advantage.

Rockford goalie Ronnie Vogel picked up his league-leading (with Clayton Pool of Muskegon) sixth win of the season on Sunday against the River Otters.

Vogel became the first goalie in club history to register two points in one game. Vogel had two assists in Friday's 5-2 win over the Flint Generals and now has three assists for the season.

The Hogs trailed for the first time after the second period this season in Saturday's 3-1 loss at Fort Wayne.

The loss ended Rockford's club -ecord 9-game undefeated streak.

The IceHogs have scored the first goal in 9 games this season and have won all of them.

Rockford is in the middle of a stretch in which the team will play 11 games in 17 days. Rockford has four games in five days during the next two weeks.

Hot Hog Week 4:

Winger Jason Notermann has a point in five straight games and had a goal in each of the IceHogs three games during Week 4. Notermann leads the Hogs in scoring with 6g-10a-16pts and ranks sixth in the UHL in scoring. Notermann also recorded a plus/minus rating of +4 in Week 4 and leads Rockford with a +13.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, November 16 at Kalamazoo Wings. The puck drops at 6:00 p.m. Rockford and Kalamazoo renew acquaintances once again, this time in Kalamazoo. It's the second of six meetings between the inter-divisional rivals.

Friday, November 18 vs. Motor City Mechanics. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Mechanics return to the MetroCentre to battle the Hogs. The first 1,000 fans will receive IceHogs Poster #2 in a series of seven from Medicine Man, Johnson Press and Pepsi.. Call (815) 968-5222 for tickets.

Saturday, November 19 vs. Fort Wayne Komets Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Hogs entertain the Komets for the first time this season at the MetroCentre in the front end of a home-and-home series. The first 1,000 kids 12-and under will receive a full size youth hockey stick from MT and Sons. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, November 20 at Fort Wayne Komets. The final showdown of the week starts at 4:00 p.m. Rockford travels back to the Allen County Memorial Coliseum for the second time this season in the back end of the home-and-home series.

HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:

HogTalk returns tonight at Shooter's North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson each Monday. Also this week, rookies Corey Hessler and Steve Yetman will be there to talk Hogs hockey and meet fans.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, 1330 AM WNTA. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune into Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The IceHogs broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the 10th Inning Bar and Grill Post-Game Call-In Show following each home game at (815) 874-8255.
