Trashers fall to third place

November 14, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Danbury Trashers News Release

DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers fell from second to third place after they failed to earn a point over two games last weekend in Muskegon and Kalamazoo. The Trashers started last week with a 3-0-1 record away from the Danbury Ice Arena but will now hope to return to their winning ways at home with eight of the next nine in their own arena after two discouraging losses away from home.

Two big divisional games take center stage this week as the Trashers will look to avenge their October 28th loss to Elmira on Friday, while looking to melt the Adirondack Frostbite once again as they meet for the second time this season.

TRASHERS DROP 3RD STRAIGHT WITH 6-1 LOSS TO KALAMAZOO

NOVEMBER 12, 2005

KALAMAZOO, MI--Nick Bootland and Greg Labenski each netted a pair of goals as Kalamazoo's power play lit the lamp five times on Saturday night in a 6-1 Wings victory over the Trashers at Wing Stadium.

The Wings entered play with the 7th best power play in the UHL, but played Saturday's game with an outstanding man-advantage as their first five goals were on the power play.

Labenski's first goal gave the Wings a 1-0 lead at the 3:58 mark as the Trashers were able to quickly tie the score at 1-1 as David Hymovitz beat Joel Martin for the only Danbury goal of the night at the 4:42 mark. However, just 1:05 later the Wings took the lead for good on Darren Deschamps first of the season.

The Wings added three more goals in the second and one more in the third to fill out the scoring. Kalamazoo improves to 6-2-0 while the Trashers fall to 4-5-1 and are now tied for second in the East with Roanoke, also with nine points.

Sly Daigle stopped 23 of 28 shots in the loss, while Zach Sikich saved 10 of 11 in the final period for his Trashers debut. Joel Martin saved 31 of 32 shots for his 3rd win of the season.

TRASHERS FAIL TO HOLD LEAD-FALL TO MUSKEGON FURY 5-4

NOVEMBER 11, 2005

MUSKEGON, MI--Ryan Keller's shorthanded goal in the 3rd period proved to be the difference as the Muskegon Fury overcame a 3-2 3rd period deficit to top the Trashers 5-4 on Friday night from the L.C. Walker Arena.

Danbury, who has yet to win a game in five tries on the road in Muskegon, took a 1-0 lead on the first of two goals from Carlyle Lewis at the 10:11 mark of the first period, but the Fury's Todd Robinson netted a goal just 23 seconds later to deadlock the score at 1-1.

Muskegon's special teams capitalized as they scored three power play goals, the first was from Robinson at the 15:55 mark as the Fury carried a 2-1 lead into the dressing room after the first period.

Lewis' second goal tied the score at 2-2 in the second period at the 14:28 mark, while Regan Kelly scored a goal in his first Trashers game to give Danbury a 3-2 lead heading into the 3rd period.

Muskegon scored three straight goals in the final period, the first by Ryan Keller to tie the score at 3-3, then Trevor Johnson's first of the year gave the Fury a 4-3 lead. Both goals were scored on the power play. Keller's second goal came shorthanded as he stole the puck from Mario Larocque and scored on a breakaway to give the Fury a 5-3 lead.

The Trashers closed the gap to 5-4 on Fred Belanger's first of the season at the 17:07 mark, bur the Trashers failed to capitalize in the final moments with an extra attacker.

Sly Daigle stopped 29 of 34 shots in his return to Muskegon while Clayton Pool saved 32 of 36 to earn his 5th win of the season. The Trashers fall to 4-4-1 while the Fury are now 7-0-0 this season.
