
Roanoke's Jerofegevs and Missouri's Reiter earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Roanoke Valley Vipers defenseman Alex Jerofegevs has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Missouri River Otters goaltender Kevin Reiter has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 13, 2005.
Jerofegevs completed the week with eight points (2g, 6a) and a plus-three rating in four games played. He began the week by dishing out three assists in the 5-1 win vs. Elmira on Wednesday. On Saturday, he handed out two more assists in the 3-2 shootout loss to Adirondack. In Sunday's 6-0 win vs. Elmira, he tallied two power play goals plus one assist. After recording just one point through the first six games of the season, the 21-year-old native of Riga, Latvia now is tied for fourth among UHL defensemen with nine points (3g, 6a) and tied for eighth in scoring among UHL rookies.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack forward Mark Hurtubise, Danbury right wing Carlyle Lewis, Elmira right wing David Herring, Flint defenseman Fabien Laniel, Fort Wayne right wing Dustin Virag, Kalamazoo defenseman Daniel Carriere, Missouri right wing Frank Littlejohn, Motor City defenseman Matt Smith, Muskegon left wing Ryan Keller, Port Huron center Aaron Brand, Quad City forward Chad Woollard, Richmond left wing J.J. Wrobel, and Rockford right wing Jason Notermann.
Reiter finished the week with a 2-1-0 record, a .948 save percentage (SPCT), and a 2.02 goals against average (GAA). He helped the River Otters earn their first two victories of the season. On Friday, he stopped 33 of 34 shots in the 4-1 win at Fort Wayne. The following night he made 47 saves in the 5-2 win vs. the Motor City Mechanics. The 47 saves was the second highest total by a UHL goaltender this season. The 24-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native made 30 or more saves in each of his three appearances during the week.
