Adirondack Frostbite News Release


LAST WEEK: Adirondack went 2-1-0 during its three-game home stand, picking up victories over Quad City and Elmira, and losing to Danbury. The Frostbite are 6-2-0 for 12 points, and remain in first place of the Eastern Division, three points ahead of the Trashers.

Wednesday, November 2 v. Quad City FROSTBITE 3 Mallards 2 (SO)

After a scoreless first period, the Frostbite got on the board first midway through the second period as Blue Bennefield slid a shot past Mallards' goaltender Jason Tapp. Quad City came right back to tie the game three minutes later as Anthony Blumer deflected a shot past Kris Tebbs. Adirondack retook the lead at 18:55 of the period on a Kevin Watters shorthanded goal. Quad City tied the game midway through the final period on an Andrei Lupandin goal. In the shootout, Hugo Belanger's goal in round five lifted the Frostbite to the victory.

Friday, November 4 v. Elmira FROSTBITE 5 Jackals 2

Adirondack picked up its third consecutive win with a 5-2 triumph over Elmira. The Jackals scored first on a Sam Paolini goal at 10:02 of the first period, but the Frostbite tied it exactly three minutes later on a Hugo Belanger goal. That was the first of four unanswered goals for the Frostbite and the first of a three-goal night for Belanger. Elmira pulled back within two at 10:12 of the second on a Kevin Cooper power-play goal, but Belanger set the final and capped his hat trick at 6:11 of the third.

Saturday, November 5 v. Danbury Trashers 4 FROSTBITE 2

Adirondack got off to a quick start, getting first-period power-play goals from Scott Drevitch and Lyon Porter to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Danbury tied the game, scoring a pair of goals late in the second period, and then took the lead for good on a Mario Larocque goal 3:41 into the third period. Brad Wingfield set the final, scoring 15:56 into the final period.

The Frostbite open and close their four-game road trip at the Richmond Coliseum. Adirondack is 3-0-0 against Richmond this season, sweeping a three-game series on opening weekend. The Frostbite outscored the RiverDogs 18-8 in the three games. Richmond is 1-5-0 for 2 points, and is in fifth place of the Eastern Division.

Friday, November 11 @ Roanoke 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 12 @ Roanoke 7:30 p.m.

The Frostbite meet the Vipers for a pair of games in the first-ever meetings between the two squads. The Vipers moved to Roanoke in the off-season from Port Huron. Roanoke is 3-3-0 on the season for 6 points, and is in third place of the Eastern Division.

FROSTBITE NOTES

Hugo Belanger and Kevin Watters both have at least one point in the Frostbite's first eight games of the season, the longest streak in the UHL this season. Watters' seven-game goal streak ended in Saturday's loss to Danbury.

The Frostbite lead the league with 19 major penalties, and are also tied for the UHL lead in both power-play goals (14) and shorthanded goals (4).

Kevin Watters leads all UHL rookies in points (15) and goals (9).

Adirondack is first in the league, averaging 36.75 shots on goal per game.

FROSTBITE ON THE AIR

All 76 Frostbite regular season games can be heard on WCKM 98.5 FM and on-line at www.frostbitehockey.com with the Voice of the Frostbite, Joe Babik. Each broadcast begins 20 minutes prior to face-off with the Frostbite Pre-Game Show. In addition, all Frostbite games are available to watch on a pay-per-view basis in conjunction with B2 Networks. The B2 Networks feed can be accessed through the Frostbite website at www.frostbitehockey.com. Every Monday during the season, WCKM airs the "In the Box" Show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Davidson's. The show is hosted by WCKM morning personality, and Frostbite PA announcer, Dan Miner. Dan is joined on the show each week by Frostbite Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Potvin, Frostbite Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Joe Babik, and a different Frostbite player. This week's guests are Frostbite right wing's Blue Bennefield and Kevin Watters.
