Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

LAST WEEK'S GAMES: The Roanoke Valley Vipers (3-3-0, 6 points) were unable to play their two games scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 4th and 5th due to a malfunction with the ice compressors at the Roanoke Civic Center. The games will be rescheduled for later in the season, but no dates have been announced yet. The Vipers made a quick road trip to Danbury, CT on Sunday, November 6th to take on the Trashers. Thanks to a hattrick from team captain David Beauregard, the Vipers were able to come home with a win under their belts and boost their record back up to the .500 mark.

The Vipers got on the board first in Danbury on Sunday evening with a power play goal off the stick of team captain David Beauregard. Beauregard would go onto score a hattrick in the game to help lead the Vipers to a big win over the Trashers. The Vipers would take the lead three different times during the game, and each of those three leads came as a result of a Beauregard goal. Beauregard received the team's nomination for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for his efforts in Sunday's game. Beauregard's linemate Mark Scott had assists on each of the four Vipers goals. Petr Jelinek scored a fourth goal for the Vipers, and also added an assist on Beauregard's first goal at 1:29 of the first period. Shawn Conschafter recorded his first win of the season and his first as a Viper, making 22 saves in front of the net against the Trashers Sunday. Conschafter shut the Trashers out in the third period, even holding steady during a brief 6-on-4 Trashers power play. The Vipers netminder received his first nomination of the season for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week. Rookie David Shillington saw some extra playing time on Sunday in the absence of L.P. Martin who was sick and unable to make the trip to Danbury. Coach Jim Wiley received some outstanding play from Shillington, though he was unsuccessful putting a point on the board.
