Muskegon's Jeff Nelson and Clayton Pool earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Muskegon Fury center Jeff Nelson has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Muskegon Fury goaltender Clayton Pool has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 6, 2005.

Nelson completed the week with eight points (3g, 5a) and a plus-5 rating in three games played. In Friday's 6-2 win vs. the Flint Generals, he dished out two assists. On Saturday, he tallied one power play goal and one assist in the 3-2 victory vs. Central Division rival Kalamazoo. Nelson then added two goals and two assists to help the Fury to their third victory of the week as they defeated Motor City 6-1. The 32-year-old native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan has scored at least one point in all six Muskegon games this season. He is also riding a four-game assist streak and is currently tied for fourth in the UHL with 13 points (5g, 8a).

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack left wing Hugo Belanger, Danbury forward Alex Goupil, Elmira right wing Jarrett Konkle, Flint center Terry Marchant, Fort Wayne center Mark Smith, Kalamazoo forward Jason Deitsch, Missouri left wing Jimmy Callahan, Motor City right wing Konstantin Kalmikov, Port Huron left wing Brian Felsner, Quad City forward Anthony Blumer, Richmond defenseman Dan Vandermeer, Roanoke left wing David Beauregard, and Rockford defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov.

Pool completed the week with a 2-0-0 record, a .956 save percentage (SPCT), and a 1.50 goals against average (GAA). He stopped 26 of 28 Kalamazoo shots in Saturday's 3-2 victory. On Sunday, he made 39 saves as he earned his second victory of the weekend in Muskegon's 6-1 win vs. Motor City. The 27-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia has a season record of 4-0-0. His four wins are tied for second most in the UHL and his 1.75 GAA is third best in the league. Pool currently ranks second among UHL goaltenders with a .943 SPCT.
