Louisville Bats News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. - Louisville lifted three home runs and rallied late in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Indianapolis Indians took down the Bats 13-10 on Saturday night at Victory Field.

Mike Freeman hit an inside-the-park home run and finished a double shy of the cycle to pace the Bats' offense. The Bats infielder tripled in the first frame and lifted a deep shot to right field in the sixth inning to set up his inside-the-parker. The fly ball bounced off the top of the right-field wall and eluded the Tribe's outfielder, allowing Freeman to race around third and slide safely under a tag at the plate on a bang-bang play for an inside-the-park home run.

The feat was the second inside-the-parker of the season for the Bats (also Jose Barrero, Aug. 10 vs. Nashville) and fifth for a Louisville batter at an opposing ballpark during the Louisville Slugger Field era (since 2000).

Mark Kolozsvary also hit his first career Triple-A home run as part of the 10-run barrage, going deep on a solo shot with one out in the first inning.

The effort was ultimately not enough, however, as the Indians plated six runs off three hits and three walks with two outs in the fourth inning, four more runs on a bases-loaded walk and bases-clearing double in the seventh and three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

The Bats rallied in the ninth, stringing together four hits and three walks to score five runs and close the gap 13-10. Louisville then brought the tying run to the plate, but the Indians bullpen recorded a strikeout to halt the rally.

Louisville and Indianapolis will end the series on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET at Victory Field. RHP Michael Mariot (4-4, 3.34) will take on RHP James Marvel (4-6, 5.42) on getaway day.
