Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Isotopes 8 (3-10), Dodgers 4 (3-10), - Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park
AT THE DISH: The Isotopes hit three home runs on Thursday ... Taylor Motter opened the scoring with a solo shot in the second ... Sam Hilliard gave Albuquerque the lead for good with a two-run homer in the fifth ... Nick Longhi provided the final run of the night for the Topes when he went deep to right-center in the seventh ... Longhi went 2-for-3 ... Alan Trejo went 1-for-3 with a double in his Triple-A debut before leaving due to injury ... Greg Bird and pinch-hitter Danny Edgeworth each picked up an RBI double ... Edgeworth recorded his first career Triple-A RBI.
TOEING THE RUBBER: Kyle Freeland was outstanding in his second rehab start from the parent Colorado Rockies ... Freeland pitched six innings of two-hit, one-run ball while walking one and striking out four ... He did not allow a hit until two outs in the fifth inning, which was also the first ball hit out of the infield by Oklahoma City ... Carlos Estévez pitched around a pair of hits to strike out the side in the seventh inning and keep the Dodgers off the board ... Joe Harvey extended his scoreless inning streak to 10.1 dating back to the end of 2019 and spanning between his time in an Albuquerque and Colorado uniform.
TOPES TIDBITS: Albuquerque won back-to-back games for the first time since defeating the Las Vegas Aviators at home on Aug. 26-27, 2019 ... Freeland's quality start was the first for an Isotopes pitcher since Rico Garcia on Sept. 1, 2019 at Fresno ... the Topes had two sacrifice flies in the game after coming into Thursday as one of only three teams (Harrisburg and Stockton) in Minor League Baseball without a sac fly.
ON DECK: The Isotopes and Dodgers play game two of their six-game series on Friday night in Albuquerque. Face Masks will be given to the first 3,000 fans, presented by Rio Grande Credit Union. Ryan Castellani (1-1, 6.00) is slated to start for the Topes, opposed by Oklahoma City lefty Mike Kickham (0-1, 7.71). Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and 2019 National League MVP Cody Bellinger is tentatively scheduled to join OKC on Friday and make his first rehab appearance.
