SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Aces' pitchers three-hit the River Cats lineup to pick up their 10th win of the season, routing the home team, 3-2, in Sacramento on Thursday evening.

Humberto Castellanos settled in after a second-inning home run, retiring 13-in-a-row through the sixth frame before being relieved of his duties to start the seventh. The Aces' starter went six innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four en route to his first win of 2021.

Castellanos' six innings of work matched the team-high, joining Josh Green and Zach Lee as the only starters to get through the sixth.

Six Aces recorded at least one hit in tonight's contest with Drew Ellis smacking the only extra-base hit on the evening, a double in the third.

Reno remains undefeated when outhitting its opponents, moving to 9-0 on the season.

After a scoreless opening frame and top of the second, the River Cats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom half on a solo homer from Jason Vosler. After a single in the following at-bat, the Aces' pitchers shut down 21 of the next 24 batters to keep Sacramento at bay.

In the top of the third, Reno threatened the River Cats with a two-out rally. Seth Beer tapped a single to left-center followed by Ellis's double over the left fielder's head to force second and third. After an eight-pitch walk to Ryder Jones, Sacramento relieved its starter, Tyler Beede, with Kervin Castro and worked out of trouble to keep the Aces off the board.

Reno loaded the bases again in the fifth and broke through with a three-spot. Nick Heath legged out a leadoff bunt single, followed by a base knock to right from Juniel Querecuto and Beer reaching first on a hit by a pitch with no outs.

Ellis drove in the first run on a groundout up the middle to tie the game. In the following at-bat, Ryder Jones tapped a single over Sacramento's third baseman to take the lead, 2-1. Matt Lipka brought Beer around to score after swinging at the first pitch and grounding out down the third-base line to lift the advantage to two, 3-1.

Both teams were held off the board until the bottom of the ninth when Thiaro Estrada hit a solo home run to cut the River Cats' deficit to one, 3-2. After allowing the home run, Buchter closed the door and picked up his fourth save of the season.

Reno returns to action on Friday against Sacramento with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. PT. Jon Duplantier will make his second start of the season against three-time Major League All-Star Scott Kazmir. Friday's game can be heard on renoaces.com or KPLY 630 AM locally with Zack Bayrouty on the call.
