Francisco Cervelli transferred from Gulf Coast League Yankees to Trenton

(NORWICH, CT) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that C Francisco Cervelli has been transferred from the Gulf Coast League Yankees to Trenton. C Eladio Rodriguez has been placed on the Disabled List.
Cervelli has only played in a total of six games this season. He went 3 x 10 with an RBI in three games for Tampa (High-A) between 6/16-6/19. He went 2 x 8 in three games for the Gulf Coast League Yankees (7/30-8/2). Cervelli suffered a fractured right wrist during Spring Training and started the season on the Disabled List. He has also missed action this season with a left knee injury. Last season, Cervelli had a .279 BA with two home runs and 32 RBI in 89 games for Tampa. He entered the season as the 23rd rated prospect in the Yankees Minor League System according to Baseball America, and is currently on the Yankees 40-man roster.
Rodriguez has split the season between Trenton, Tampa and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A). He has a .190 BA in six games with the Thunder this season. He has three doubles and two RBI. Rodriguez has hit .095 in seven games for Tampa. He went 1 x 3 in one game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He was signed as a free agent by the Yankees on 10/24/07. Last season, Rodriguez batted .461 with 16 HR and 44 RBI in 34 games for the Modi'in Miracle of the Israel Baseball League, winning the Hank Greenberg Award as the IBL's co-Most Valuable Player.
Trenton continues its road trip on Monday night against the Connecticut Defenders, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. RHP Eric Hacker (5-2, 2.80) will start for Trenton. Connecticut RHP Daryl Maday (0-0, 2.00) will start for the Defenders. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m. Trenton returns home on Thursday August 7th to take on Akron Aeros, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.
