Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced three roster moves in advance of today's game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

The Goldeyes have placed outfielder Jonathan Wyatt on the disabled list, retroactive to May 25, activated left-handed pitcher Mike Williams from the inactive list and signed left-handed pitcher Luis Villarreal.

Villarreal, 31, returns to Winnipeg where he spent part of the 2006 season. He had a 2-0 record and 2.38 ERA in two starts towards the end of the season after being acquired from the Joliet JackHammers. A veteran of 10 professional seasons, Villarreal played in the 2010 season with La New Bears of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.

Villarreal, a product of San Antonio, Tex., has seen action in the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners systems. His latest stint in affiliated ball came in 2009 when he saw action in five games at Double-A with the Mariners affiliate West Tennessee of the Southern League. He reached Triple-A Nashville of the Pacific Coast League in the Brewers system in 2007 and posted a 1.93 ERA in 4.2 innings of work.

During his career, Villarreal has played parts of six seasons at the independent level, including time with current American Association teams the St. Paul Saints and Kansas City T-Bones. He has a career 33-26 record and 3.36 ERA in independent baseball.

Wyatt injured his hamstring last week in Fargo and hasn't played since May 24.

Williams was placed on the inactive list two days before Opening Day and has yet to make his Goldeyes debut. He spent the last three seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

The Goldeyes now have 22 players on their active roster, including 13 pitchers and nine position players.
