Former standout returns to Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that KRZYSZTOF WIECKOWSKI (F) was acquired in a trade with the Long Beach Ice Dogs for financial considerations. Wieckowski played for the Grrrowl during the 2002-03 season, and spent last season in Long Beach.

WIECKOWSKI (6-3, 205lbs., Ottawa, ONT native) was selected as the Long Beach representative to the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria but was injured just days before the game and was unable to participate. He played in 32 games last season and registered 22 points (7G, 15A) and 24 penalty minutes. During his rookie season in Greenville, Wieckowski totaled 28 points (11G, 17A) in 58 games. Krys will be in camp with the Grrrowl on Wednesday morning.

The Grrrowl will practice at the Pavilion on Tuesday (9:00am) and Wednesday (8:30am), and return to the BI-LO Center on Thursday morning at 10:00am for practice.

The Grrrowl will open the 2004-05 schedule with a home game on Friday, October 22, 2004 (opening weekend presented by Verizon Wireless) against the Charlotte Checkers.
