Chicago Wolves assign Goaltender Adam Berkhoel to Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Adam Berkhoel has been reassigned from the Gladiators American Hockey League affiliate Chicago Wolves.

Under contract to the Atlanta Thrashers, Berkhoel was recalled from the Gladiators to the Wolves on October 13th. Berkhoel was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 8th round, #241 overall of the 200 NHL entry draft.

The rookie out of the University of Denver helped the Pioneers to a NCAA Championship last season where he posted 2.45 goals against average and a .918 save percentage in 39 starts last year. Berkhoel was named the NCAA tournament's most valuable player.

The St. Paul, Minn., native played three seasons with former Gladiator and last season's ECHL rookie of the year Kevin Doell at the University of Denver. In four collegiate seasons, Berkhoel appeared in 98 games, posting a 55-27-10 record.

The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators begin their second season on the road October 22nd, before hosting in-state rival Augusta on Friday, October 29th at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
