CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the Hartford Wolf Pack has assigned forward Ryan Cuthbert and defensemen Jake Taylor and David Liffiton to the Checkers for the 2004-05 season. The announcement was made by Checkers Head Coach Derek Wilkinson.

This is Cuthbert's second tour-of-duty with the Checkers. The Swift Current, Saskatchewan native played in 62 games for the team during the 2003-04 season, before joining the Hartford Wolf Pack to finish out 2004. While with the Checkers, Cuthbert scored 10 goals and had 13 assists, tallying 23 total points. That year, the 5'10, 185-pound right-hander also spent 89 minutes in the penalty box. He played in 18 games for the Wolf Pack, contributing three assists during the regular season, and one goal and one assist in seven playoff contests.

Jake Taylor, a 6'4", 205-pound defenseman hailing from Byron, MN, was originally selected by the New York Rangers in the 177th overall in the 6th round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft after one year at the University of Minnesota. He played in 39 games for the Golden Gophers during the 2003-04 season, finishing his collegiate career with 2 goals, 6 assists, and 68 PIMs.

David Liffiton, from Windsor, Ontario, comes to the Checkers after spending three seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL from 2001-04. The 6'3", 201-pound left-hander was selected by the Colorado Avalanche 63rd overall in the 2nd round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 170 regular-season games with the Whalers, he scored 10 goals and assisted on 29 others. He also had 1 goal and 3 assists in 18 games during the 2002-03 Playoffs.
