Former Express LHP Brandon Mann Named Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month

METAIRIE, Louisiana - LHP Brandon Mann's week just got a little sweeter. After making his major league debut on Sunday, the former Round Rock Express hurler was named Texas Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April on Thursday afternoon.

The lefty, who turned 34 on Wednesday, earned his first career call-up to the bigs on Sunday after spending 16 seasons pitching in the minor leagues, independent ball and Japan. Mann was brilliant for the Express in the month of April, not allowing an earned run in 11.0 total innings pitched across nine relief appearances. He racked up 10 strikeouts to just two walks in that span.

Mann started the season on Round Rock's Opening Day roster, beginning his first extended time at the Triple-A level. After compiling a 1.04 ERA (2 ER/17.1 IP) in 12 total appearances, including one start, the lefty earned his first career call-up to the major leagues on Sunday. With the Rangers, Mann has yet to allow a run in 3.1 innings of relief across two outings.

The Express open a four game series against the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Thursday night. Round Rock RHP Yovani Gallardo (0-1, 4.71) is scheduled to face New Orleans RHP Sandy Alcantara (1-1, 3.79). First pitch at the Shrine on Airline is set for 7:00 p.m.
