Force make roster moves to reach 24-player limit

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, January 24, 2005 – The Georgia Force announced today their 24-player roster that will take the field on Saturday, January 29th when the Force host the defending Southern Division champion New Orleans VooDoo at 7:00 p.m. at Philips Arena. The AFL's mandatory cut down date to reach the regular season 24-man roster was today.

League rules allow teams to carry a roster limit of 24 players during the regular season. For every game, 20 of the 24 players will be declared active and four players will be deemed inactive. Also, January 24th marked the beginning of the signing period for practice squad players. Each team may carry up to four players on their practice squad.

To reach their roster limit, the Force released DS Scotty Lindsey and waived OS Arnold Jackson, K Ola Kimrim, WR/LB Jimmy Robinson, OL/DL Dave Volk and QB Michael Wall.

In other roster moves, Georgia placed four players on Injured Reserve: FB/LB Kevin Aldridge, WR/DB Jayson Bray, OS Todd Doxzon and DS Fred Vinson.

The Force signed three rookies to their practice squad, who each have been with the team since the beginning of training camp, DS Rob Carey, WR/LB Chris Curd and OL/DL Ernest Grant. The final practice squad signing was QB Glenn Gauntt. Gauntt is entering his third season in the AFL having played with Carolina and Dallas. Last season, he started 12 games for the Desperados and finished the year with 58 touchdowns and 3,009 yards passing on 237-of-394 with 11 interceptions adding 14 yards rushing on 13 carries and 4 rushing scores.

The Georgia Force kick off their fourth season in the AFL in 2005 under the direction of new owner Arthur M. Blank, owner & CEO of the Atlanta Falcons, and new head coach Doug Plank.
