
VooDoo announces 2005 roster

The New Orleans VooDoo made their final roster moves today in preparation for their 2005 season opener this Saturday (Jan. 29) at the Georgia Force as they waived two players and placed one on the injured reserve list to reach the league mandated limit of 24.
In order to reach the Arena Football League roster limit, the team waived WR/LB Anthony Collins and WR/LB Tremaine Neal and placed OL/DL John Hilliard on injured reserve. Hilliard, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, will be ineligible to come off the list until after New Orleans' first two regular season games.
The 2005 VooDoo roster is comprised of 15 returnees from the 2004 Southern Division champion squad and nine newcomers. Of the nine new players, six possess prior AFL experience and other three are rookies.
The roster breakdown by position follows: Kicker (1) â Brian Schmitz*; Quarterbacks (2) â Billy Dicken and Andy Kelly; Offensive Specialist (1) â Aaron Bailey*; Fullbacks/Linebackers (3); Jason Bratton*, Chris Browning* and Leroy Thompson; Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs (4) â Carl Bond, Lamont Moore*, Jacques Rumph* and Calvin Spears*; Wide Receivers/Linebackers (1) â Thabiti Davis; Defensive Specialists (4) â Calvin Coleman*, Chris Pointer*, Alvin Porter and Denario Smalls*; Offensive/Defensive linemen (8) â B.J. Cohen*, Aaron Hamilton*, Mike Landry, Tim Martin*, Bruce McClure*, Brook Miller, Abdul-Salam Noah* and Hans Olsen (* - returning players from 2004).
The VooDoo will have a four-man practice squad. This will be announced on Wednesday.
The 2004 Southern Division champion New Orleans VooDoo home opener is Sunday, February 13 at 2 pm, when they host the 2004 AFL champion San Jose SaberCats. The regular-season home schedule includes games against: San Jose, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Georgia, Columbus, Colorado and Austin. Season ticket plans begin for as low as $96 per seat. There are numerous seating options available in all price ranges.
