AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

INHD and AFL present two-year HD broadcast beginning with 15-game schedule for 2005

January 24, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK – INHD, cable's most widely-distributed all high-definition network, and the Arena Football League have reached an agreement that will make INHD the high-definition home for the AFL through the 2006 season. INHD announced today its 2005 AFL schedule, which includes a minimum of 15 high-profile games, including four match-ups that feature the ArenaBowl XVIII runner-up Arizona Rattlers. The first live game airs Friday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) and features the Rattlers against the Grand Rapids Rampage. INHD will replay games for one week following each live airing.

"The AFL has a deep and loyal fan base that continues to grow, as evidenced by attendance and broadcast ratings, and that is continuing to look for ways to see their favorite teams," said DAVID ASCH, SVP Programming, iN DEMAND Networks. "As anybody knows, few things on television are as captivating as football in high-definition, especially the breathtaking style of play that the AFL brings to the table. We look forward to working with the League to broadcast AFL games in high-def."

In its 19th season, the AFL continues to flourish with its unique brand of action-packed Ironman football. Additionally, the League has caught ownership interest of celebrities and NFL icons: Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback JOHN ELWAY is co-owner of the Colorado Crush; JON BON JOVI co-owns the Philadelphia Soul; NFL legend MIKE DITKA recently became a part owner of the Chicago Rush; and country music superstar TIM MCGRAW owns a minority interest of the AFL's newest team, the Nashville Kats.

"We are thrilled to expand on the relationship we began with INHD last year by developing an AFL game of the week for the 2005 season," said MARC LOWITZ, President of the AFL Network. "INHD's ability to bring the viewer at home into AFL arenas through their high-definition broadcasts adds another level of access and enjoyment to our fans' Arena Football experience. We look forward to working with INHD along with our network partner, NBC, and regional partner, Fox Sports Net, as we bring more AFL games to television audiences around the country than ever before."
