
It\'s Official: Your 2005 New York Dragons

New York Dragons News Release
With the 2005 AFL season less then a week away, the New York Dragons cut down their roster to 24 players over the weekend. The roster consists of 13 returning Dragons, 9 AFL veterans in their first year with the Dragons and three rookies â one beginning the season on Injured Reserve.
"I'm confident in our decision and very pleased with the final roster," said Dragons head coach Weylan Harding. "It was difficult making the cuts, which is what I wanted to happen. Competition brought out the best in the guys."
Along with Garcia, other returning Dragons veterans include: FB/LB Chin Achebe, WR/LB Chris Anthony, QB Chris Boden, OL/DL Will Burnett, OL/DL Richard Harris, WR/DB Will Holder, WR/DB Corey Johnson, OL/DL Jermaine Miles, OL/DL Marcus Owen, OL/DL Clyde Sanders, OS Kevin Swayne and FB/LB Josh White.
The 9 new Dragons with AFL experience are: DS Chris Angel, K Rob Bironas, FB/LB Kevin Clemens, OS Markeith Cooper, WR/DB DaShane Dennis, OL/DL Stacey Evans, WR/LB Mike Horacek, OL/DL Steve Scifres and OL/DL John Thomas.
New Dragons head coach Weylan Harding will carry three rookies on his team. Former William & Mary standout DS Billy Parker headlines the group which also includes OL/DL Joe Laudano and WR/DB Lamont Webb. Webb begins the season on Injured Reserve. Laudano will be the youngest Dragon this season at 23 years and 235 days. Parker, who is 18 days older then Laudano, was signed by the team after an impressive workout at the team's open tryout in October.
The team will once again carry an International Practice Squad with WR/DB Mutsumi Takahashi back for his second season. WR/DB Yuichi Watanabe joins the team for his first season in the AFL.
Released were OL/DL Andre Arnold, DS Jerald Brown, WR/LB Scott Cloman, DS Nate Coggins, OL/DL Kerry Linnear, OL/DL John McDermott, FB/LB Chris McIver, OL/DL Charlie Missant and FB/LB Laurence Nolen.
The Dragons kick off their the 2005 season at home on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6, 2005, at 1:00 pm against the Dallas Desperados.
