SALEM, VA - Trailing 2-1 in the top of the eighth inning, the Dash sent 10 men to the plate and scored five runs, leading Winston-Salem to a 6-2 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Friday night at Haley Toyota Field.

To start off the inning, Steele Walker bounced a single through the right side against Salem (6-3, 31-45) reliever Dylan Thompson (1-6). Jameson Fisher then lofted a fly ball into left-center field that was dropped by center fielder Marcus Wilson, allowing Fisher to reach second and Walker to reach third.

Following the error, Winston-Salem (3-6, 41-32) tied the ballgame, as Carlos Perez hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Walker. The next batter, Craig Dedelow, blooped a single into right field, scoring Fisher to give the Dash a 3-2 lead, but the ball was misplayed by right fielder Keith Curcio allowing Dedelow to reach second.

To continue the rally, Tate Blackman looped a single into right-center field, bringing home Dedelow to extend the Winston-Salem lead. After Blackman's hit, Thompson was replaced by Zach Schellenger, who promptly hit Jordan George and walked Yeyson Yrizarri to load the bases. Mitch Roman then capped off the scoring with a two-run single up the middle, giving the Dash a 6-2 edge. Roman finished the night 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Along with the five-run eighth, Winston-Salem benefited from a strong start by Jorgan Cavanerio (4-0). The right-hander allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits across seven innings while striking out two and walking one. It was the longest outing of the season for Cavanerio.

In relief of Cavanerio, Bennett Sousa pitched two scoreless frames while allowing just one hit to end the ballgame.

Prior to the big inning, Salem jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the second. To lead off the frame, Tanner Nishioka singled before moving to third on an errant pickoff attempt by Cavanerio. Then, Nick Lovullo grounded out, allowing Nishioka to score the first run of the contest.

The Red Sox added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Edgar Corcino led off the inning by smacking a triple into the right field corner before the next batter, Marcus Wilson, drove him in with a single into center field to give Salem a 2-0 lead.

Winston-Salem finally scored against Salem starter Thad Ward in the top of the sixth. Roman led off the frame by punching a double down the right-field line. A flyout by Walker advanced Roman to third before Fisher hit a sacrifice fly to center field, giving the Dash their first run of the ballgame before the five-run eighth.

The Dash continue their series at Salem on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Jonathan Stiever (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will toe the rubber for Winston-Salem against left-hander Enmanuel DeJesus (4-6, 3.99 ERA). Pregame coverage begins at 5:50 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast, MiLB.tv and the TuneIn Radio App.
