Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Dash infielder Nick Madrigal and outfielder Luis Robert have been tabbed to play in the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will take place on Sunday, July 7, at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will feature Madrigal as a member of the USA Team and Robert as a member of the World Team.

Madrigal, the White Sox fourth overall selection in the 2018 MLB Draft, spent the first 49 games of 2019 with the Dash. A Midseason Carolina League All-Star, Madrigal hit .272 with 27 RBIs and 17 stolen bases during his time in Winston-Salem this season. In his final 17 games with the Dash, Madrigal hit .313 with two home runs, three doubles and nine stolen bases. He also led the Carolina League with a 2.8 percent strikeout rate before being promoted to Double-A Birmingham on June 6.

In 18 games with the Barons, the former Oregon State star is batting .377 with nine stolen bases and only one strikeout. In his career, Madrigal has posted three separate streaks of over 70 plate appearances without a strikeout.

Robert has been one of the best players in Minor League Baseball this season. Beginning the year with the Dash, the Cuban slugger demolished Carolina League pitching.

In 19 games with Winston-Salem, Robert hit .453 with eight home runs, 24 RBIs, a .920 slugging percentage and a 1.432 OPS. Following his dominant April, Robert was named the White Sox Minor League Player of the Month and the Uncle Ray's Carolina League Player of the Month.

Signed by the White Sox in 2017 for $26 million, Robert currently ranks as the top prospect in the White Sox system and the fifth-best overall prospect per MLB Pipeline. Since his promotion to Double-A Birmingham, Robert has posted a .320/.365/.531 batting line with seven home runs, 14 doubles and three triples.

Madrigal and Robert represent the eighth and ninth Dash alumni to participate in the All-Star Futures Game, joining Dylan Cease (2018), Luis Basabe (2018), Zack Collins (2017), Eloy Jimenez (2016 & 2017), Frankie Montas (2014), Yolmer Sanchez (2012) and Daniel Hudson (2009).

The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will be held at Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians. It has been an annual part of Major League Baseball's All-Star events since 1999. The highly-anticipated exhibition will take place at 7 p.m. EDT on July 7, and fans can watch the game on MLB Network and MLB.com. Radio play-by-play coverage will be available on Sirius (channel 209) and XM (channel 89).
