Fisher Cats fall 13-4 in New Britain Saturday afternoon

(NEW BRITAIN, CT)- New Britain right hander Kevin Slowey pitched a complete game 2-hitter, and the Rock Cats topped New Hampshire 13-4 Saturday afternoon in the day portion of a day/night doubleheader in New Britain. Slowey went the full nine innings, walking 2 and striking out 5. He finished his outing by retiring the final 15 Fisher Cats he faced.

New Hampshire (39-53), in falling to the Rock Cats for the third straight time, took an early 3-0 lead on DH Adam Lind's 18th homer.

The Fisher Cats had a 4-1 lead in the 4th after 1B Chip Cannon doubled, went to third on David Smith's flyout, and scored on a sacrifice fly by SS Ryan Klosterman.

New Hampshire starter Ismael Ramirez worked the first four innings, allowing 1 ER. He was making his first start since June 10 after a stint on the disabled list.

New Britain (39-51) exploded against the Fisher Cat bullpen for 12 runs on 14 hits over the next three innings. Danny Hill (1-6) took the loss.

RF Trent Oeltjen went four-for-five with 2 triples and 5 RBI. Every Rock Cat had a hit. They finished with 19 hits, matching the most given up by New Hampshire in a game.

The series continues at 7:05pm tonight (Saturday) with RHP Mike MacDonald (7-5, 3.63) on the mound for New Hampshire against LHP Jay Sawatski (1-0, 3.99). The teams will also play 1:35pm Sunday afternoon. New Hampshire returns home Monday night to start a homestand against Portland (Red Sox) at 6:35pm.
