Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Kevin Rios had a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning, capping a late-inning comeback from a two-run deficit, giving the Binghamton Mets a 5-4 win over the Bowie Baysox at NYSEG Stadium Saturday. The B-Mets have taken three straight in the series and 11 of their last 13 overall.

The B-Mets (45-46) took a 1-0 lead when Jay Caligiuri led off the second with a solo homer. However, Rayner Bautista tied it at one in the third with a solo shot of his own before Carlos Gomez led off the Binghamton half of the fifth with a double and moved to third on Ambiorix Concepcion's groundout before Ray Navarrete drove him in with a sacrifice fly to left for a 2-1 B-Mets lead.

Binghamton starter Miguel Perez worked into the eighth inning, departing after issuing back-to-back, one-out walks to Gera Alvarez and Jeff Fiorentino. On came Ryan Cullen, who struck out Bryan Bass, but then gave up a three-run blast to Cory Keylor, giving Bowie a 4-2 lead.

The B-Mets' comeback began with two out in the bottom of the eighth, when Wilson Batista doubled off Bowie (39-49) reliever Nick McCurdy and Andy Wilson followed with a hard-hit single up the middle to score him, cutting the Baysox lead to 4-3.

After Matt Lindstrom (2-2) struck out the side in the top of the ninth, Caligiuri led off the bottom half of the frame with a triple to right off Bowie closer Marino Salas. Two batters later, Concepcion scored him with a game-tying base hit. Once Concepcion moved to second on a passed ball, Salas (2-5) intentionally walked pinch-hitter Michel Abreu to bring up Rios, who doubled into the right-centerfield gap, scoring Concepcion with the winning run.

Sunday, the B-Mets wrap up their four-game series against the Bowie Baysox. Bryan Edwards (1-5, 5.11) will start for Binghamton against Radhames Liz, who will be making his Bowie debut. The first pitch is slated for 1:30 at NYSEG Stadium with radio broadcast starting at 1:15 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
