The Latest Wilson Batista went 3 for 4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored, helping the Binghamton Mets pick up a 4-3 win over the Bowie Baysox at NYSEG Stadium yesterday...Batista had a hand in all four of Binghamton's runs, including a go-ahead two-out, two-run single in the seventh...Carlos Gomez picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly and Corey Ragsdale had a pair of hits and a run scored...after starter Michael Devaney yielded two runs over 5 1/3 innings, four B-Mets relievers combined to hold Bowie to a run on two hits over the final 3 2/3 with Orlando Roman notching the save...the B-Mets have taken their first two in the series from Bowie and have won 10 of 12.

About Binghamton Including last night's contest, the B-Mets have won the last nine games in which they've scored first, with their last loss coming 6/18 vs. TRE...three BMets got into Wednesday's EL All-Star Game at Altoona. 1B Michel Abreu started and went 1 for 3, scoring the Northern Division's first run, OF Jorge Padilla entered in the fifth inning and was 0 for 2, seeing action in leftfield, and RHP Ivan Maldonado tossed a scoreless 1/3 of an inning, allowing two hits. C/1B Andy Wilson was also selected, but didn't play. RHPs Mike Pelfrey and Henry Owens were chosen as EL All-Stars as well, but were called up to the NY Mets and replaced by Maldonado and Wilson. The Southern Division won the game 5-3.

About Bowie The Baysox lost 6-3 to Harrisburg Monday, splitting their four-game series with the Senators...Bowie hasn't been to the playoffs since 1997, the longest active postseason drought in the EL...Endicott native James Johnson is in Bowie's starting rotation, giving up four runs in 6 2/3 innings for the loss last night, as he faced the B-Mets for the first time in his career. The 2001 Union- Endicott graduate pitched in Wednesday's EL All-Star Game and his eight wins are tied for third-most in the circuit.

This ‘N That Binghamton's won 21 of their last 32, a streak that started with an eight-run eighth that led to a come-from-behind victory 6/7 @ REA... since starting his B-Mets career 3 for 28, Ambiorex Concepcion is 10 for 28 (.357) over his last eight games with 4 2B and 2 HR...Binghamton's eight-game win streak, which ended Sunday, is tied for the second longest in team history. Binghamton also won eight in a row 8/17-23/2002. The club record is 15 straight wins, accomplished 7/22-8/8/2000...yesterday, Johnson became the fourth NY State native to pitch against the B-Mets at NYSEG Stadium this season, joining Altoona's Mike Connolly (Oneonta) and Humberto Sanchez (Bronx) and Chris Homer (Jamesville) of Erie.
