First OT Win of the Season Highlights Weekend
March 8, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Jamie Johnson's 20th goal of the year proved to be the game winner as the Augusta Lynx picked up their first overtime victory of the year 4-3 in Columbia on Saturday night. The Lynx finished the weekend with a 1-2-0 mark.
Friday night Augusta traveled to Columbia for the first of three consecutive road games, and two in a row against the Inferno. Ken Magowan pulled Augusta even at 1-1 in the game before the Inferno grabbed a 2-1 lead back at the first intermission. Dan Sullivan and Eric Johansson then returned fire to give the Lynx a 3-2 lead, but Columbia would rally to tie the game at 3-3 after 40 minutes of play. In the third period, Derek Eastman netted the eventual game winner on a power play at the 12:36 mark of the final frame to give the Inferno the win.
Saturday the Lynx would jump out to the 1-0 lead on a goal by Matt Dzieduszycki, but Columbia rallied, scoring twice in the final minute of the second period for a 3-1 lead at intermission. Augusta stormed back, however, on goals from Regan Darby and Doug Wright, each notching their first goals in a Lynx uniform to sent the game to overtime. There, Jamie Johnson would out-work an Inferno defender for the puck and plant the puck over the left shoulder of Mike Minard to give the Lynx their first overtime victory of the year.
Rounding out the weekend in Pee Dee against the Pride, Brian Passmore got the Lynx out in front 1-0 by cashing in a Dan Sullivan rebound just 2:28 into the contest. But from there, six different Pride players would tally goals in a 6-1 Augusta loss. Nick Boucher, after getting chased in his last appearance against the Lynx, made 23 saves for the win.

The Lynx travel to the North Charleston Coliseum for the first time this season to take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 pm on Friday night. In four meetings this year, the Lynx are 2-1-1 against the Stingrays. Jason Saal has played all four contests and carries a 1.47 GAA and .951 save percentage on the season series. Saturday, March 12th vs. Greenville
The Grrrowl return to Augusta once again on Saturday night at 7:35 pm. The final of six clashes between the two clubs this year, Augusta has a 2-1-2 record against the Grrrowl so far. Jason Saal is 2-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and .962 save percentage against Greenville, while Mike Brodeur (1-1-0, 2.00 GAA, .944 save percentage) is the only remaining Grrrowl netminder to have faced the Lynx this season.
