Defenseman Plume Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery

March 8, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL placed rookie defenseman CLAY PLUME on the 30-day injured reserve (IR) list. The Standoff, Alberta native underwent successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder last week.

The 45 minute Bankhardt Procedure was performed by DR. PAUL NITZ at the Far Hills Surgical Center on Thursday. "The operation went as well as can be expected", said Dr. Nitz. "We anticipate a full recovery and following some intense rehab, the shoulder should be even stronger."

"It's an unfortunate way to end your rookie season", said Bombers Coach/GM DON MACADAM. "Clay played as long as he could with the pain of this injury, but eventually, surgery was necessary to repair the damage. He will be missed on the blueline."

Dayton Bombers Head Athletic Trainer GEORGE SPORING from Kettering Sports Medicine is also optimistic about Plume's recovery. "His arm will be immobilized in a sling for the next 3 weeks, and then he'll start an intense 4-5 weeks of physical therapy and rehab. He should be fine and ready for training camp next season."

The Bombers return to action tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they host the Trenton Titans at 7:00 PM. "The Coaches Corner Pre-Game Show" starts at 6:50 PM on 980 Homer, The Sports Animal and at daytonbombers.com.

The Bombers host a home-away-from-home game at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio when the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies invade the Miami Valley at 7:30 PM. For tickets and information call, the Bombers' office at 937-775-4747.
