
Titans Sunk In Shootout By Rivermen, 4-3

PEORIA, IL (March 8, 2005) â The Trenton Titans' third-period comeback fell short in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Peoria Rivermen in front of 3,003 at Carver Arena.
The Titans came storming back in the third period against the number one penalty kill in the ECHL with two power play goals scored by Leon Hayward and Bryce Cockburn 2:53 apart.
It was Nick Deschenes who gave the Titans a 1-0 lead, their first lead of the season versus the Rivermen, with his 17th of the season at 8:04 of the first period.
Peoria would score three unanswered goals as Brian McCullough put a centering feed past Chris Houle to tie the score 1-1 with 56.4 seconds remaining in the period.
McCullough then put the Rivermen ahead 2-1 with his second of the game - a power play goal - at 13:36 of the middle stanza.
The Rivermen's lead extended to two 3:49 later then Trevor Baker swept the rebound from Randy Rowe's slapshot into the open net.
After a scoreless overtime, Igor Valeev and Randy Rowe converted in the shootout as Alfie Michaud stopped 4-of-5 Titans shooters.
Houle turned away 36 of 39 shots as his record goes to 11-9-6. Trenton went 2-for-4 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
