Record for week: 2-2-0, 4 points

Record for season: 33-19-4, 70 points – Second place in Northern Division

Player Notes: Ray DiLauro leads the ECHL in power play points with 29 and is tied for first in power play assists with 22...DiLauro is second among defensemen with 44 points and is tied for the defensemen lead with 35 assists...DiLauro and Ed McGrane are the only players to play in every game this season for the Nailers...McGrane leads the Nailers with 21 goals and 49 points...McGrane leads the Nailers with eight power play goals, Evgeny leads the Nailers with two shorthanded goals.

Team Notes: The Nailers and the Reading Royals are tied for the Northern Division lead with 33 wins...Wheeling has the 12th best power play at 17.3%, ninth best home power play at 19.0%...The Nailers are tied for the ninth best penalty kill at 85.2% and have the second best home penalty kill at 90.4%...Wheeling leads the ECHL in goals against per game at 2.25...The Nailers are 19-11-3 against the other five teams in the playoff race in the Northern Division

Wednesday, March 2

Atlantic City 4 @ Wheeling 1

Ed McGrane gave the Nailers a 1-0 lead in the game with a power play goal at 8:31 of the first period. Evgeny Lazarev and Ray DiLauro assisted on the goal. Atlantic City responded by scoring twice before the period came to an end, the second was a power play goal, to take a 2-1 lead. The Bullies added another power play goal in the second period to increase their lead to 3-1. An empty net goal by Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig ended the scoring. Koenig's goal was just the eighth goal in ECHL history to be scored by a goalie. Andy Chiodo made 22 saves in the loss.

Friday, March 4

Johnstown 2 @ Wheeling 3

For the second consecutive game the Nailers scored first to take a 1-0 lead. Steve Crampton scored at 6:15 of the first period from Randy Perry and Cam Paddock. Evgeny Lazarev increased the Nailers lead to 2-0 less than a minute later with Armands Berzins and James Laux assisting. Johnstown scored a late first period goal and a second period power play goal to tie the game 2-2. Brendon Hodge gave the Nailers a 3-2 lead with a power play goal at 10:00 of the third period from Ray DiLauro and Ed McGrane. Andy Chiodo made 32 saves for the win.

Saturday, March 5

Wheeling 0 @ Reading 2

Two power play goals by the Royals were the difference in the game as the Nailers were shutout by the Royals for the third time this season. Graig Mischler gave the Royals a 1-0 lead at 13:21 of the first period and Dan Welch ended the scoring at 12:38 of the second period. The Nailers outshot the Royals 26-25 in the game. Andy Chiodo made 24 saves in the loss.

Wednesday, March 2

Atlantic City 4 @ Wheeling 1

Andy Chiodo registered his first shutout with Wheeling by making 23 saves in the win. Ed McGrane scored his 21st goal of the season at 1:51 of the first period from Evgeny Lazarev and James Laux. Lazarev gave the Nailers a 2-0 lead with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 12:24 of the second period. With less than a minute remaining in the second period, Laux scored a power play goal from McGrane and Ray DiLauro to give the Nailers a 3-0 lead. Laux scored his second power play goal of the game at 9:19 of the third period for a 4-0 Nailers lead. Steve Crampton and DiLauro assisted on the goal. Chiodo became the third Nailers goalie to record a shutout this season.

Wheeling @ Atlantic City 7:05p.m.

The Nailers begin a three game road trip in Atlantic City. The Nailers are 3-2-1 against the Bullies this season, 2-0-0 in Atlantic City.

Friday, March 11

Wheeling @ Trenton 7:30p.m.

The Nailers have not lost to the Titans this season. Wheeling is 6-0-0 against Trenton, 2-0-0 at Trenton.

Saturday, March 12

Wheeling @ Johnstown 7:00p.m.

The Nailers conclude their road trip in Johnstown. The Nailers are 4-1-0 against the Chiefs this season, 1-1-0 in Johnstown.

Sunday, March 13

Peoria @ Wheeling 5:05p.m.

The Nailers end the four game in five night week at home against the Peoria Rivermen. It will be Kid's Day and Nailers Trading Card Set #2. The Nailers are 4-1-0 against the Rivermen this season, 3-0-0 in Wheeling.

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is Ed McGrane. McGrane had four points in four games last week on two goals and two assists. McGrane scored the only Nailers goal in a 4-1 loss on Wednesday. He had an assist on Friday and one goal and one assist on Sunday. He played a +2 for the week.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Andy Chiodo. Chiodo was 2-2-0 in four games last week. He recorded his first shutout for Wheeling on Sunday in a 4-0 win against Dayton. Chiodo made 101 saves on 108 shots for a .935 save percentage. Chiodo had a goals against average of 1.77.
