Trenton Thunder News Release
(TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, will entertain fans from throughout the region with expanded fireworks shows on July 3rd and 4th.
The Thunder play a four game home series against the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) starting Thursday, July 1 and ending Sunday, July 4. Tickets for all games are available by calling 609-394-3300 or online at trentonthunder.com.
"We've been reading the news stories about municipalities that are responding to the economic climate by cancelling their July 4th fireworks shows," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "We are thrilled to be able and step up to the plate and fill the void in everyone's holiday celebration plans. For as low as $9 per seat, people can have an All-American Independence Day full of baseball and fireworks."
On July 4th, the Thunder will host the Championship Round of the MHP Liberty Strongman Classic immediately following the Trenton vs. Harrisburg game. An expanded fireworks show will be set off following the conclusion of the Stongman Classic, approximately 20 minutes after the baseball game.
The MHP Liberty Strongman Classic will take place at three locations over three days with the final round, the Atlas Stones Challenge, taking place on the field at Waterfront Park. At least five competitors from the famed "World's Strongest Man" TV competition will take part in this year's contest.
This year families can have a unique July 4th experience at the ballpark with the Uncle Sam's Family Picnic Deal. The package includes a seat at a table in the Bullpen Grill picnic area, an all-you-can-eat buffet, a pregame photo with a player or mascot, and the opportunity to lay a blanket on the field for the fireworks. This deal is only available with advance purchase. Tickets are $27 for adults and $22 for children 12 and under.
The weekend series with Harrisburg starts on Thursday, July 1 at 7:05pm. The Thunder's golden retriever, Chase, will celebrate his 10th birthday and 8th year as Trenton Thunder Bat Dog. The first 1,500 fans will receive an 8" x 10" photo of Chase and his son Derby.
On Friday, July 2 at 7:05pm the first 2,000 fans ages six and over will receive a bobblehead doll featuring NY Yankee Catcher, Francisco Cervelli, courtesy of Hyundai. Five bobbleheads have been autographed by Francisco Cervelli and will be randomly given away at the gates.
When fans open the lid to the box, if they see a photo of Francisco they win.
Demand for Trenton Thunder bobbleheads is high.
Gates open at 6:05pm for the general public and fans are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early if they would like the collectible. The first three bobblehead giveaways this season have been distributed by 6:30pm.
The first fireworks show of the weekend will take place after the game on Saturday night, July 3, thanks to the Bucks County Courier Times. Both weekend fireworks shows will be longer and more action-packed that the typical Thunder post-game fireworks show.
The Thunder are currently on the road at New Britain. Tickets are available for the entire Independence Day weekend celebration by calling 609-394-3300 or online at trentonthunder.com.
