TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Akron Aeros will meet in the finale of a three-game series...The Aeros scored a pair of runs, one earned, in the top of the eighth inning and claimed a back and forth contest with the Flying Squirrels by a 4-3 count in game two of the series on Tuesday night at The Diamond.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in the finale of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Earned the win in his last outing 6/25 at Erie...Allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings plus two batters...Struck out four batters and walked one...Worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the first inning without allowing a run to score...Stranded eight runners on base including seven in scoring position...Allowed the leadoff batter to reach in four of his seven innings on the mound...Threw 100 pitches, 72 strikes...Threw first-pitch strikes to 22 of the 28 batters he faced...Threw three pitches or less to 18 of the 28 batters he faced...Has allowed two runs or less in 12 of his 15 starts...Has gone six innings or more in 10 of his 15 starts including each of his last six...Is 9-1 when going six innings or more...Ranks fourth among starters in the Eastern League in fewest base runners per nine innings at 10.58 (107/91.0 IP) and is tied for fourth overall in WHIP (1.10)...Is fifth in the Eastern League, is fifth in innings pitched (85.0), is eighth in ERA (3.07), and is tied for ninth in strike outs (68)...Trying to become just the second pitcher in the Eastern League to nine wins (Jared Hughes).

THUNDERSTRUCK Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has hits in each of his last five games after going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored last night...The 23-year-old is 8-for-22 (.364) with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored over that stretch and has multi-hit games in three of the five contests...His longest hit streak of the season is six games (4/27-5/2).
MAKING IT RAIN: Third baseman Conor Gillaspie extended his hit streak to five games with a 2-for-4 performance last night including a double, RBI, and run scored...The streak matches his longest of the season (5/12-5/19)...The 22-year-old is hitting .429 (9-for-21) over his last five games including four multi-hit games...He has a double, four RBI, and one run scored over that stretch.
BUILT FORD TOUGH: Outfielder Darren Ford has hits in each of his last seven games, his longest hitting streak of the season...He is 9-for-35 (.257) at the plate with a double, RBI, and four runs scored...The 24-year-old has also struck out 11 times and has not walked over that span...Ford is also second in the Eastern League in stolen bases (25) and he leads the league in attempts (37) and times caught stealing (12).
M-"O"-MENTUM: The Flying Squirrels have hit .311 (60-for-193) over their last five games with 17 extra-base hits including 10 doubles and seven home runs...The club has also scored 27 runs (5.4R/G) over that span...Prior to their recent run, the Flying Squirrels were hitting .244 as a team and were averaging 3.4 runs per game over their first 73 games.
GETTING SERIE-OUS: Richmond is attempting to claim its second consecutive series victory since 5/7-5/12...The club was 1-9-2 over its previous 12 series (5/13-6/24)...The only other series win for the Flying Squirrels over that stretch came against New Britain 6/8-6/10 when the club took two of three games...Prior to the skid, Richmond had gone 6-1-1 over its previous eight series spanning from 4/15-5/2.
