Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made more roster moves today as RHP Marty Popham was transferred back to Class A Kinston and RHP Shane Lindsay was placed on the active roster after clearing outright waivers.

Popham delivered a quality start in his only outing with the Aeros last night, holding the Richmond Flying Squirrels to just one run over six innings with six strikeouts. It was a phenomenal bounce back outing for the 6'6" Louisville, KY native as he had allowed eight runs on ten hits in just two innings in his last start with the K-Tribe. The 22-year-old returns back to Kinston where he held a 5.16 ERA in six starts after posting a 3-1 record with a 3.70 ERA in eight starts for Class A Lake County. During the 2009 season with the short-season Class A Mahoning Valley Scrappers, he had a 2.76 ERA with 83 strikeouts against only 10 walks in 75 innings pitched and is a product of Union College (KY).

Lindsay was designated for assignment last week by the Cleveland Indians and returns to the Akron Aeros roster today. He previously appeared in four relief outings for the Double-A Indians this season, collecting a 2.08 ERA in 4.1 innings pitched. He recorded seven strikeouts with seven walks and allowed three runs (one earned) on only one hit. He is a 25-year-old native of Melbourne, Australia and began the 2010 season in the Colorado Rockies organization. The Indians then claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees on June 1st and the Aeros received Lindsay from Class A Kinston on June 12th.

The Akron roster remains complete at 24 men and Lindsay will again be wearing #33. The team finishes up a three-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels tonight at 7:05 p.m. at The Diamond before heading over to Maryland for a four-game weekend set with the Bowie Baysox.
