ABOUT LAST GAME: The Fireflies outlasted the Shorebirds 9-8 on Tuesday night at Spirit Communications Park. Scott Manea's walk-off hit by pitch with the bases loaded proved to be the difference in the bottom of the 10th inning. It's the fourth walk-off win of the year.
- Columbia overcame its second five-run deficit of the season. The team was down 6-1 after four and a half frames and rallied to score eight of the final 10 runs.
- Gio Alfonzo recorded three hits, which included an RBI double to spark a three-run 10th stanza
- Blake Tiberi drove in three runs and was on base four times.
EXTRA, EXTRA: Columbia has played in seven extra-inning games in 2017. That's the second-most in the SAL (Lakewood - 8). The Fireflies are 5-2 in these extended affairs.
TOUGH CUSTOMER: Scott Manea has been hit by pitch 11 times this season. That leads the squad and is tied for first in the SAL. Travis Jones (LEX) has also been hit 11 times. Manea is at the top of the league in on-base percentage (.471).
DOWN TO THE WIRE: Columbia played in four straight one-run games against Delmarva (May 12-15). The club has experienced eight of its 13 one-run games in May, winning four of those eight games.
THE BRO-WONDER: Outfielder Quinn Brodey is second in league with 27 RBIs and second with 17 extra-base hits (9 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs).
STRONG STRETCHES: There have been several impressive streaks from the Fireflies to start the season.
- Rigoberto Terrazas: 11-game hitting streak (April 9-20)
- Jeremy Vasquez: 29-game on-base streak (April 5-May 6)
- Scott Manea: 16-game on-base streak (April 21-May 12)
Raphael Gladu is currently on a 11-game on-base streak and has hit safely in his last six contests. Gladu also holds a .393 batting average over the last 10 games.
